Jan Mitchell Larsen majored in
Sculpture & Design at the Philadelphia College of Art. Samples of
her work can be seen in the Permanent Collection of the Smithsonian,
the Thompson Museum in Kentucky, the National Guard Armory on St.
Croix, Roosevelt Park on St. Thomas and Veterans Park on St. Croix.
For
the past fifteen years she has designed and crafted ornaments for the
National Christmas Tree of Peace, exhibited in the International Art
Glass Invitational in St. Louis, and had a VICA National Endowment to
the Arts grant.
In 2007, Jan was inducted into the Virgin Islands Hall of Fame.
On St. Croix, her Lady of Justice, a life size bronze, marks the
entrance to the United States Federal Court Building, a Federal
Art-in-Architecture installation.

And, on that same island, she and her husband have set up a sophisticated workshop featuring water jet cutting equipment, and
together they have developed several new techniques in the art of
fusing glass. Each piece is individually designed, and they are all
lead free and dishwasher safe.
Jan's spare time includes knitting, spending time at home in her workshop and helping Steffen to care for their many rescued dogs. Her knitting hobby inspired the "knit" pick ornaments - new for 2010.
